Terms of Service

Last updated: March 4, 2026

Important: Attune is a communication practice tool, not a crisis resource and not a substitute for professional mental health care. If you are experiencing an emergency or thoughts of harm, please contact the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline (call or text 988) or your local emergency services.

1. What Attune is

Attune provides AI-powered communication practice scenarios designed to be used as between-session homework under the guidance of a licensed therapist. It is a productivity and practice tool — not a licensed mental health service, not a clinical platform, and not a replacement for therapy.

Attune does not provide diagnoses, clinical assessments, or treatment recommendations. Nothing in the app constitutes medical or psychological advice.

2. Who can use Attune

Attune is currently in a closed pilot. Access is by invitation only. To use Attune as a client, you must be invited by a therapist participating in the pilot. You must be 18 years of age or older.

3. Therapist accounts

Therapists who register on Attune take responsibility for:

  • Determining whether Attune is appropriate for each individual client
  • Obtaining informed consent from clients before assigning practice scenarios
  • Reviewing session summaries and reflections in the context of ongoing care
  • Complying with all professional licensing and ethical obligations in their jurisdiction

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use Attune in place of emergency or crisis support
  • Attempt to extract personal data about other users
  • Reverse engineer, scrape, or automate interactions with the platform
  • Use Attune for any unlawful purpose
  • Share your account credentials with others

5. Your data

You own your data. By using Attune, you grant us a limited license to process your data solely to provide the service — generating AI responses, producing session summaries, and making those summaries available to your assigned therapist. We do not use your data to train AI models. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

6. AI-generated content

Attune uses large language models (Anthropic Claude) to simulate conversation partners and generate session summaries. AI output is not reviewed by a human before you see it. It may be inaccurate, incomplete, or not suitable for your specific situation. Always discuss AI-generated summaries with your therapist before acting on them.

7. Availability

Attune is provided as-is during the pilot. We make no guarantees of uptime, data persistence beyond 30 days after account termination, or feature availability. The pilot may end at any time with reasonable notice.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Attune and its operator are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service. Attune is not liable for decisions made based on AI-generated content. Our total liability in any circumstance is limited to the amount you have paid us in the past 12 months (which during the pilot is $0).

9. Termination

You may stop using Attune at any time and request account deletion by contacting us. We may suspend or terminate access for violations of these terms, with or without notice. On termination, your data will be deleted within 30 days.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, United States. Disputes will be resolved in the courts of King County, Washington.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the product evolves. We will notify you of material changes by email at least 7 days before they take effect. Continued use after that date constitutes acceptance.
